Fall 2026 Meeting Minutes
Anthony Halberstadt Chapter, September 19, 2026
Meeting Called to Order
President Jeffrey W. Jones called the Fall 2026 Chapter Meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
The following opening ceremonies were conducted:
- Pledge of Allegiance:Compatriot Brett Hahn, Secretary
- National Anthem:Compatriot Gary Stebbins, Sergeant-at-Arms
- SAR Pledge:President Jeffrey W. Jones
SAR Pledge:
“We descendants of the heroes of the American Revolution who, by their sacrifices, established the United States of America, reaffirm our faith in the principles of liberty and our Constitutional Republic, and solemnly pledge ourselves to defend them against every foe.”
Opening Remarks
President Jones introduced Melanie, Senior President of the local Children of the American Revolution chapter.
Historian Review
Compatriot Archie Lintz was absent due to illness, and the Historian Review was skipped.
New Member Inductions
The following new members were inducted into the Anthony Halberstadt Chapter:
Awards and Recognition
Compatriot Matthew Boyd: 5-Year Service Award
Compatriot Douglas Wellman: 25-Year Service Award (not present)
Amber Gonzalez: Good Citizenship Medal (not present)
President Jeff Jones presented the Vincennes colors to Color Guard Commander Gary Stebbins.
Officer and Committee Reports
Vice President: Compatriot William Pond
Reported on book donations to the VA Hospital.
Secretary: Compatriot Brett Hahn
Reported on enhancements to online payments through the chapter website.
Service Committee: Compatriot Ron Kohart
Reported on volunteering at the VA Hospital.
Treasurer: Compatriot Bob Scott
Presented the budget, including $1,900 in the America 250 fund.
President: Compatriot Jeff Jones
Reported that the chapter has doubled in size over the past four years.
Youth Contests: Compatriot Ray King
Announced contest deadlines: Eagle Scout and essay, December 31; youth video, January 31; poster, March 31.
Color Guard, Veterans, Wreaths, ROTC, Flag Recognition: Compatriot Gary Stebbins
Wreaths Across America goal is 45 of 50 (the chapter had 85 last year). Also reported on the war medal, flag certificate, ceremonies on October 4 and October 10, and the Homestead High School Air Force JROTC.
Wreaths Across America: Compatriot Jeff Jones
Wreaths will be placed at Lindenwood Cemetery, which holds approximately 7,000 veteran graves.
Patriot Graves and Public Service: Compatriot Greg Stier
Nominated an Indiana State Police trooper for the Public Service Medal after the trooper delivered a baby on I-69.
Old Business
- America 250th: Senator Dennis Kruse passed the law creating the Indiana 250th Commission. The chapter read the Declaration of Independence in July.
Program
President Jeff Jones presented “What Every Member Should Know,” covering:
- The SAR national portal
- Updating member records and biography
- Memorial Membership
- Supplemental Applications
- Earning points and awards
- America 250 tracking
- Patriot Grave Marking
- Color Guard participation
New Business
Cost of Medals: Members discussed the cost of medals and agreed to continue paying for them.
